2023 National Championship
September 15-16 • Vermont
DATE: September 15-16, 2023
REGISTRATION: Registration is now closed
RACE DIRECTOR: Green Mountain Adventure Racing Association
RACE LOCATION: Jeffersonville, VT
HOST LOCATION: Smuggler’s Notch Resort
The course details are being finalized! You can expect a Nationals-worthy version of what GMARA and Vermont are known for. Your trek(s) will be almost entirely off-trail and rarely flat. You'll have real navigation decisions to make. You will need to know how to navigate, how to recover from mistakes, and how to move through thick woods for many hours at a time. Biking will be extremely varied - expect everything from single track to remote Vermont country roads, where you somehow always seem to gain more elevation than you lose. Navigation will again be tricky, and those who can plan and execute well will be rewarded. The paddle leg will likely involve a long single paddle where skilled teams will have the ability to gain material ground. In addition, there will be at least one sizable swim that teams will want to prepare for. More information will be released in the weeks ahead, and the last few details will be finalized. For now, we recommend you practice your off-trail navigation and increase your ability to gain elevation repeatedly - both will be put to the test relentlessly.

ABOUT THE RACE
For 20+ years, the annual USARA Adventure Race National Championship has seen some of the best teams from across the nation come together to compete in a non-stop, 30-hour adventure race. Many of these teams have to push the boundaries of human endurance and teamwork just to finish. Winning requires extreme willpower, mastery across disciplines, and usually a little bit of luck.
When the race ends, teams come together for an evening meal. We announce the national champions, crown the winners of the national points series, and celebrate the amazing adventure racing community.
