EVENT SANCTIONING/INSURANCE
We know insuring a race is a costly investment for RDs, and it's not exactly the most glamorous or fun part of being a race director. We also believe offering a high quality insurance package that addresses the unique needs of adventure race directors and racers is a must. USARA has worked hard over the years to offer the best insurance policy it can to member RDs, and we are proud of the product we offer. We have 20+ years of experience, learning what works and what doesn't, and we have worked to build a comprehensive policy that will fulfill your needs at competitive prices, protecting you and providing valuable peace of mind for your race staff while also offering excellent coverage for your racers, volunteers, personnel, spectators, and land managers involved in your event.
What are the benefits of being sanctioned and insured by USARA?
After purchasing your insurance policy, a certificate of insurance will be provided to you, as well as additional certificates required by third- party additional named insureds, like canoe liveries, landowners, parks, and other permitting authorities.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR USARA INSURANCE/SANCTIONING
Individual Racer Membership:
For an event to be insured and sanctioned by USARA, all racers must be USARA members. Without active membership, racers are not insured under the policy. While we encourage racers to purchase an annual membership ($35), which supports USARA’s programming and provides access to a range of benefits in addition to insurance coverage during all sanctioned events, a one-day membership is available at a cost of just $8. We recommend RDs provide for purchase of a one-day membership as an option during the registration process, to streamline check-in on race day. The RunSignUp platform is fully integrated with USARA membership, allowing both membership dues and waivers to be handled electronically during registration.
Race Director / Organization:
Must be in good standing for all previous events / membership dues
Race organization must be an be an established corporation or non-profit entity with a Federal EIN Tax ID #
Must respond to any/all inquiries from USARA about sanctioned event logistics and safety
