Perched on the stage at The Junction Ale House, the media team had a great view of the finish line of the 2024 USARA National Championship. Doug Silk from AR Dotwatch was able to sit down with a few teams to talk about their experiences before they headed for the showers.

The Leg 3 Trek took place mostly in the dark and many teams found difficulty with the subtle navigation.

Teams must cross chest deep water at this point in the race in order to reach the next transition where they’ll find their mud covered bikes yet again.

Brian and Mary got into Transition Area 3 around midnight and made sure to catch the lead team, #133 WEDALI as they cruised through and back onto their bikes.

After a brutally thick and challenging Leg 1 trek, teams found themselves entering transition area 1 under the driving rain and 60mph gusts of Hurricane Helene as it moved northward across the Eastern US. Field reporters Brian Gatens and Mary Foster headed out to get reactions from racers as they moved on to Leg 2.
